3:00 pm – A Reflective Conversation on the Transformation of the Triad

Join members of the Center for Design Innovation and the Piedmont Community Design Forum in considering change within our region and ourselves. How might objects, materials and artifacts catch our attention, inspire our affection and represent the change we seek? Bring an object to help introduce yourself to the group. What are the things we need to listen to as we consider the transformation of the Triad? Bring one along!
5:00 pm – Introductory Keynote Speaker: Idit Harel Caperton
Location: Phillips Hall, Frances Auditorium
Dr. Caperton is one of the creators of the One Laptop One Child movement and founder of the World Wide Workshop (www.worldwideworkshop.org). Come hear Dr. Caperton as she shares her ideas and invited discussion on how children use open source social media technology and game production to learn, think, and create.
6:30 pm – Opening Reception
Location: Hayworth Fine Arts Center, Sechrest Gallery
The Event: A short dance piece will kick off and introduce this opening reception, featuring “The Gulliver Project.” Afterward, attendees will have the opportunity to meet, talk, and speak with the artist, James Grashow. www.jamesgrashow.com

Visit our expo to see a great gathering of companies and organizations and their offerings on display. Go tour creative and professional services firms showcasing what they can do. Hang out with some tech gurus explaining their new technologies and how that can spark your creativity and make things happen for you and your business. Have a conversation with area arts organizations as they share their exciting programs and cultural activities designed to make your life more creative.

Regional Student Expo

This exhibition includes student-submitted work from several different area colleges including UNCG, High Point University, Randolph Community College, Winston-Salem State University, Forsyth Technical College, and North Carolina School of the Arts. This exhibition is an opportunity for the professional design community to discover the up-and-coming talent right here in our region.
‘Open Mic’ – Lilliputian Art Wall

Everyone is invited and encouraged to contribute to DATS this year. We will have an art wall, where you can showcase your own art piece inspired by Grashow’s “The Gulliver Project” from “Gulliver’s Travels.” It will be a lot of fun to contribute to the experience as you create “the small” things just like Gulliver encountered on his travels. Have fun drawing on 5X5 pieces of paper to add to this unique experience.
